The Delvera mountain bike trails are the first step in creating quality mountain bike tourism products in the Western Cape. R50 for a permit per person (R25 for kids under 10). This includes VAT. Permits available online at dirtpass.co.za
The Porcupine Trail....offers trail riders over 6km of challenging singletrack trails. This blue intermediate route is roughly 15km long and takes riders up the slopes of the Klapmuts Hill and into the Greater Simonsberg Conservancy. This is one of the Cape's premier singletrack destinations. Built and maintained by the same crew that is responsible for the Tokai, Lebanon, Thandi & Jonkershoek trails. Another 3km black trail option for advanced riders. The more sedate Farm Trail is 7km and perfect for beginners. Enough climbing for a rewarding view. This route follows the Green signs. Muratie has the facilities for a fun day or we can even do a mountain bike event at any venue you prefer - especially for your company and/or clients. HIKING TRAILS (closed from June 2020)The Delvera Vineyard Trail takes hikers into a registered conservancy. All trails start from the Dirtopia Trail Centre and permits are R50 for adults and R25 for kids (under 10) per day. The hiking trail is open daily from 8am-5pm although an honesty box is available for access outside of these hours. Delvera Vineyard TrailThe Delvera Vineyard Trail is 9.75km long and takes roughly 2.5 hours to complete. The hike summits Klapmutskop at 523m and offers panoramic views of the Winelands and Cape Town. The 6km Vineyard Walk remains in the vineyards and take 1.5 hours to complete. You'll enjoy beautiful views of the Winelands and get a closer look at the various red and white wine cultivars. Interpretive signage will help you distinguish between Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc! For bird enthuasiasts the 1.25km Bird Walk is a must. The Delvera dam hosts a wide range of ducks, geese, weavers, pheasants and many more. And yes, you can come and do trail running for exercise here too! Greater Simonsberg Conservancy (incl Klapmutskop)The Conservancy was formed by surrounding farmers in 2004 to protect the rare Renosterveld (Rhino field) vegetation type Raptors sightingsThe region boasts with a wide range of raptors with resident Jackal Buzzards a daily sighting. Keen birders will recognise the distinctive cry of the African Fish Eagle on one of their frequent visits to the farm. Nordic WalkingFairly new in South Africa, Nordic Walking is about to take off as it did all over the world. Nordic Walking poles to rent from Trail Centre and lessons can be given on appointment. Arina Botha is a qualified INWA instructor since Dec'05. Lessons including pole hire & permit cost R180 for first hour.
