When darkness falls, the forest comes alive…
Dress up, switch on your headlamp and prepare for a Halloween night run through Muratie’s winding forest singletrack. Expect spooky surprises along the way, beautiful sunset views from the ridge and plenty of Halloween fun—followed by live music from Akkedis after the run.
Dirtopia has hosted this popular Halloween adventure since 2013, and historic Muratie Wine Estate—with its old buildings, shadowy corners and real spiderwebs in the windows—is the perfect setting! Runners, walkers, children and creative costumes are all welcome…if you dare!

Registration: From 18:15 at the Dirtopia Trail Centre
A facepainter will be there if you’d like to add to your costume!
Distances and Routes
Both routes climb through the vineyards to the ridge, where you can enjoy the last of the sunset before heading into eerie forest singletrack. Keep an eye out for unexpected Halloween visitors. Legend has it that zombies roam these woods—and remember to always yield for ghosts!

Halloween Fun at the Finish
Every finisher will receive a special 2026 Halloween medal.
Dress to impress! Costume prizes will be awarded by lucky draw, with categories for individual costumes and matching couples. Prizes include Sportsmans Warehouse vouchers, SOX Footwear and Muratie wines. Please note that this is a fun event with lucky-draw prizes only—there are no podium or category prizes.
After your run, settle in for:
- Live music from Akkedis
- Cold Muratie wine and beer
- Grab-and-go meals from Muratie
- A relaxed Halloween evening with friends and family
The route refreshment station will offer energy drinks, jellies and fruit, with Coke available at the finish.

- 5km: R185
- 10km: R225
- Children: R90 (pre-entry only)

Dirtopia Trail Centre on Muratie sells permits to the marked trails of the Simonsberg trail network. The shop carries outdoor gear, trail accessories and snacks & cold drinks.
