RMB Run4Rivers Trail Run

RMB Run4Rivers Trail Run event

 Date: Saturday, 29 March 2025

Venue: Plaisir Wine Estate, R45 Simondium

ENTER HERE: www.dirtpass.co.za

Water is our most precious resource. And our rivers are the lifeblood upon which our environments and communities thrive. RMB Running4Rivers provides a platform to maintain and protect rivers in the Simonsberg region. Together with Banhoek Conservancy, the race enables clearing of alien vegetation and the development of new trails to ensure the natural biodiversity can thrive. The event consists of four races, represented by four icons of the Cape Fynbos, symbolic of our unique natural heritage.

RMB’s partnerships in trail running extend far beyond the athletes and races. We are invested in leveraging the growth of trail running and the power of sport to make a meaningful and lasting impact where we tread.

King Protea – 40km Relay of 4 runners

Waboom – 21km

Pincushion - 10km

Disa 5km Fun run

For the first time ever, a route will go to the top of the Simonsberg saddle at Kanonkop. This includes the King Protea and Waboom route, while the relay will then traverse around Simonsberg, stopping at Muratie and Thelema wine estates.

This unique route is only accessible for this morning event. Dress up your team to add to the fun!

After some bubbly tasting at the Plaisir frame, the Waboom runners will return to the finish via the beautiful Groot Rivier trail.

The Pincushion trail runners can also taste Plaisir bubbly at the frame with an incredible view and enjoy more fun singletrack on the farm!

 King Protea - Relay Route:

The Run4Rivers King Protea is the ultimate circumnavigation of the Simonsberg

Broken up into 4 relay legs a team of 4 runners will each run an average of 10km each to complete the challenge.

You’re going to need a mountain goat, a dassie and a pair of cross-country gazelles to complete the challenge!

 Total: 39.6km

1st Leg: Plaisir to La Rochelle Dam    8,5km

•  Short but only climbing

2nd Leg: La Rochelle over Kanonkop to Muratie       9,1km

•  Toughest section with a climb over the saddle followed by a technical footpath path descent.

3rd Leg: Muratie to Thelma               9,3km

• Undulating Cross Country section

4th Leg: Thelema to Plaisir-   12,7km

  •  Longest leg but losing altitude all the way as you pass the Banhoek below you.

If solo running is more your thing, there are 3 distances to choose from.

 The Waboom Challenge – 21km

This run follows the relay race and takes you all the way up to the northwestern Simonberg saddle, a serious ascent. In stead of following the relay, runners return via new trail back down to Plaisir.

 The Pincushion - 10km

This run follows the relay to the 1st transition at La Rochelle dam so will do a fair amount of climbing before the return home.

 Disa 5km fun run

Less strenuous but no less scenic is our 5km offering for those looking for a fun outing without all the elevation!
