WINE WALKS Muratie
Some might remember the Wine Walks Dirtopia did between 2017 and 2019 from our previous Trail Centre.
In 2024 wine & trail enthusiasts can also do a Wine Walk from Muratie that includes wine tastings of their incredible wines.
Launching with the Retro Rouge Wine Festival end July 2024 - more dates to be announced.

WINE WALK from Dirtopia Trail Centre @MURATIE
Saturday 14 September
This is a fun social hike starting at Dirtopia Trail Centre at Muratie Wine Estate, where you’ll be treated to a glass of Lady Alice MCC (with or without orange juice) on arrival. A short walk to the vineyards and then approximately 2km hike on the trail that leads to the look-out point, where there are views of Simonsberg and Table Mountain in the distance.
Here there will be two white wines and two red wines to taste from Muratie.
Wear good walking/hiking shoes – you are climbing a mountain with over 200 wooden steps & various terrain. Bring a jacket, carry your own water and perhaps some snacks to enjoy on the mountain.
Bring good (closed) walking shoes, backpack with water, hat, snacks (if you like), jacket and of course water bottle. This is a relaxed event with lots of socializing and so that you can enjoy the vineyards, wineland scenery and Stellenbosch outdoors!
Ensure you book by the Friday before event by 12h00. Limited tickets and all must be done online.
The Trail Centre will be open early for snacks and cold drink sales. Please note that any drinks before, during or after the walk is for your own account.
VENUE: Start and finish at Dirtopia trail Centre, Muratie Wine Estate, Stellenbosch
TIME: For registration from 08h30, so that we can start the walk by 9am and will be back by 11h15/30
DISTANCE: Approximately 4km
COST: R150 Kids U18 R75 and will receive juice instead of wine
INCLUDES: Day permit for marked route and wine tasting on top of the mountain.
SCHEDULE:
08h30 – 08h55: Registration. You will receive an armband that will give you access to the route and wine tastings.
09h00: Start the walk at leisurely pace.
A short briefing will take place before you follow the marked route.
09h45/10am: Arrival at Tasting of 4 Muratie wines. Kids will receive juice.
11h00: start walking back – approximately 1.5km down on the hiking trails
11h30/12h00: Arrival back at Dirtopia Trail Centre.
